Mindset and logo

My logo stands for my attitude of thinking, which can be briefly explained as the constant attempt to overcome thinking in terms of polarities or oppositions (dichotomies). This thinking in dichotomies is an inherent principle for many cultures that is indispensable for understanding the respective culture. Typical pairs of opposites are right - left, male - female or often used colloquially, speaking in black & white.

The history of the creation of the logo describes my line of thought, which is hidden behind the logo. So I was always interested in philosophy, especially moral philosophy, during my school education and later also during my studies. I was particularly interested in the comparison with Far Eastern philosophy. I was and am enthusiastic about the YIN-YANG principle, because following this principle, the one cannot exist without the other and consequently there should be mutual complementarity. If you look at the Yin-Yang sign, you will notice that both poles (black and white) have the opposite element. Put together (complementary) they form a circle, always a symbol for the comprehensive and the perfect.

In search for a similar complementary interpretation approach, I asked myself whether there is anything comparable in European philosophy and thought. After intensive considerations, I came to the conclusion that an ancient Greek approach to a mathematical problem can be identified as a parallelism:

Squaring the circle

The squaring of the circle goes back to an old geometrical problem, namely how can a square with the same area be constructed from a given circle. For centuries mathematicians have turned to this question and generated solutions that ultimately result in two essential findings: The number Phi and the set of infinite numbers. By "decoding" the existence of infinite numbers, the complementary relationship between square and circle could be revealed. Inspired by the exhaustion method, which was based on an approximation of the circle through inner and outer poly-corners, I developed my logo with artistic freedom.

My mindset can be concluded and summarised as

Searching for the "togetherness of (apparently) contradicting but complementary properties"
